SAIL has released vacancies across various engineering streams as follows:
- Chemical Engineering: 5 Posts (रसायन)
- Civil Engineering: 14 Posts (सिविल)
- Computer Engineering: 4 Posts (कंप्यूटर)
- Electrical Engineering: 44 Posts (विद्युत)
- Instrumentation Engineering: 7 Posts (इंस्ट्रुमेंटेशन)
- Mechanical Engineering: 30 Posts (मैकेनिकल)
- Metallurgy Engineering: 20 Posts (मेटालर्जी)
Eligibility Criteria / योग्यता
Educational Qualification / शैक्षिक योग्यता: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) with at least 65% aggregate marks (average of all semesters) in one of the seven branches listed above.
Age Limit / आयु सीमा: Maximum 28 years as on 5th December 2025. Departmental candidates can have upper age limit up to 45 years. Relaxation applicable as per government rules.
Salary and Benefits / वेतन एवं लाभ
Selected Management Trainees will initially get a basic salary of ₹50,000 per month in the pay scale of ₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000. After successful completion of one-year training, designation will be Assistant Manager (E1 Grade) with pay scale ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000.
Additionally, candidates will receive Dearness Allowance, Provident Fund, Gratuity, House Rent Allowance, Leave encashment, and free medical facilities for self and dependents. The approximate CTC at the starting grade is around Rs. 16-17 Lakhs per annum.

Selection Process / चयन प्रक्रिया
- Online Computer Based Test (CBT) – Tentatively conducted during January – February 2026 across multiple centers.
- Online Exam Pattern:
- Part I: Domain Knowledge (100 Marks, 40 mins)
- Part II: Aptitude Test (100 Marks, 80 mins) covering Quantitative Aptitude, English, Reasoning, General Awareness (each 25 marks) - Minimum qualifying percentile:
- UR/EWS: 50 percentile in each part
- SC/ST/OBC(PwBD): 40 percentile in each part - Candidates qualifying CBT will be shortlisted for Group Discussion (GD) and Interview (1:3 ratio).
- Final merit based on 75% CBT, 10% GD, and 15% Interview scores.
- Tie-breaker based on higher CBT marks and then higher qualifying degree marks.
